Project One - Machine Retrofit

About Project One

The client required a custom solution to mount a specialised cutting bar onto a stone-cutting machine. Previous methods, which relied on welding, proved unreliable due to the unique dynamic loads exerted on the blade. The solution needed to be robust, adjustable, and use easily sourced components.

Leveraging CAD and 3D printing, we were able to prototype the solution efficiently, making material testing more cost-effective and saving both time and resources for the client.

Solution

Two Custom sheet metal plates fastened tother using common threaded bar offering a point of failure and cheap parts replacement option.

The bracket also required a dyanmic aspect in that the blade has slight rotation during operation. Custom aluminium shim allowed to keep costs to a miniumum while also offering to meet the dynamic design requirment.

Outcome

The client recieved a cost effective, robust and easy to maintain solution that meets the needs of the machine all within a realativly short time frame.
